Receptionist

Salary: £29,500 pa

Location: Stevenage

Term: Permanent

We are looking for a confident and personable Receptionist to join a busy and professional working environment in Stevenage.

As the first point of contact for clients and visitors, you will play an important part in creating a positive and welcoming experience. This is much more than simply meeting and greeting; you'll be involved in the day-to-day organisation of the centre, handling enquiries, coordinating meeting rooms and providing a wide range of administrative support.

You'll be joining a friendly team where no two days are quite the same, so we're looking for someone who enjoys dealing with people, takes pride in providing excellent service and is happy to use their initiative.

Although you will normally be based in Stevenage, there will be occasions when you'll need to provide support at other company locations. A full driving licence and access to your own vehicle are therefore essential.

What you'll be doing as Receptionist:

  • Welcoming clients and visitors and ensuring everyone receives a friendly and professional service.
  • Managing incoming calls, taking accurate information and directing enquiries appropriately.
  • Looking after incoming and outgoing post and parcels.
  • Coordinating meeting room bookings and making sure rooms are prepared and presented to a high standard.
  • Keeping reception, meeting rooms and shared areas organised, tidy and welcoming.
  • Providing day-to-day administrative support and maintaining accurate records on company systems.
  • Keeping CRM information up to date and ensuring relevant client information is recorded correctly.
  • Assisting with access cards, fobs and keys.
  • Keeping an eye on stationery and catering supplies and arranging replenishment when needed.
  • Reporting maintenance issues and helping to ensure the centre runs smoothly.
  • Supporting the Centre Manager and wider team with additional tasks when required.
  • Providing reception and administrative cover at other company locations when needed.

These responsibilities reflect the operational and reception duties within the full job description, including telephone handling, post, CRM administration, access control, stock monitoring and meeting-room management

What we're looking for:

  • Previous experience in an administrative role.
  • A naturally friendly and helpful approach with excellent customer service skills.
  • Confident communication skills, both face-to-face and over the telephone.
  • A professional manner and the ability to build positive relationships with clients, visitors and colleagues.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and confidence learning new systems.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage several tasks at once.
  • Good attention to detail and a reliable approach to completing tasks.
  • The confidence to work independently and use your own initiative.
  • The ability to remain calm and organised during busy periods.
  • A flexible approach and willingness to support other members of the team.
  • A full driving licence and your own vehicle, as occasional travel to other sites will be required.

Administrative experience, Microsoft Office skills, organisation, flexibility, initiative, teamwork and high standards of customer service are all identified as essential within the person specification

What's on offer:

  • Salary of c. £29,500 pa
  • Monday to Friday
  • 37.5 hours per week
  • 25 days' holiday plus bank holidays
  • Additional days off over Christmas
  • Pension
  • Healthcare plan
  • Great benefits package

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys being at the heart of a busy workplace and wants a Receptionist position with plenty of variety and responsibility. If you're organised, approachable and enjoy making sure everything runs smoothly, we'd love to hear from you.
